My 5 in 5- As a New Mum

After having my baby, Caspian, the last thing on my mind was being active…… after all you have just done something pretty amazing so you can give yourself a break, right?  However, after a brief chat with my health visitor, I realised that after 6 weeks of cuddles, feeding, nappies and sleepless nights, I needed to think about being a bit more active. As a new mum I needed to start thinking about looking after myself as well as my new baby. She explained to me that I needed build up gradually with an eventual aim of trying to do at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise a week as well as strength and balance exercises twice a week.

This all felt quite daunting and I didn’t really know where to start.  I was struggling to find time and motivation to exercise, but then I was introduced to the We Are Undefeatable 5 in 5. This workout is so simple as you can choose a set of 5 exercises that most appeal and then just focus on doing five in five minutes.

It’s a goal that is totally achievable for a new mum and can be done privately at home.. and even if you have your hands full with a baby you can still make it work… so there is literally no excuse. Some days I might only repeat the exercises a couple of times but my target is to complete the 5 in 5 four times a day, so in total, I  know that I have done 20 minutes of exercise each day which is great and a step in the right direction!
